An Australian Shepherd, crossed with a Bernese Mountain Dog, will result in the hybrid/designer dog called a Bernaussie. This mix dog possesses great work ethics, shows extreme loyalty, and is notably smart. Their overall temperament tends to be calm but playful, making them a great choice for any family dynamic.
These two very popular pure breeds combine the best of their long established jobs as “working dogs”. That being said, Australian Shepherds have strong herding backgrounds. Also, Bernese Mountain Dogs make excellent guard dogs.
It’s important to note that mixed breeds do not acquire a single set of personality type. It will all depend upon the dominating gene. One must consider the individual personalities of the each breed when considering any mixed breed dog.
